Without drivers quickly manage powerful transistor to fail.
The transistor has a large input capacitance.
Here is a simple gate-driver on two transistors:

 

It's rather frustrating that a manufacturer would put a code on the package that's unrelated to the part designation.

I hate it when they do that... I once had a bag full of components with markings unrelated to their actual part number accidentally mixed with different pieces in similar packages... and it was a pain in the backside to sort them out

What has that got to do with me ?

 

I invite you to control the PWM LED driver easy to use. This driver must be included between the output transistor and the microprocessor. This will allow to obtain short pulses and to adjust the brightness within wide limits.
