i measured the volts as i turn the knob..it goes from 0v to 12v normally the resistance checked out as well…i guess they might fail later ill take your word for it and toss them

 

Good. They may, in fact, have escaped with little to no damage -- but it's not too likely when words like "lit up" and "smoking" are at play. Unless they are expensive or hard to get parts, it isn't worth it in the long run.
