If you're familiar with Radio Control servos I would like to ask your help with a
need I have regarding same. I would prefer to communicate via Email if OK by you.

I agree - one gets too many e-mails, and not enough time to handle them !

You can still ask in such a way your app is not in jeopardy if you think someone may use your idea...

Thanks for your responses. Many years ago, I owned an R/C set that used linear servos and the system worked quite well. I now have a need for the same type of servo but I need more travel. Those old servos utilized a wire wound resistor over which a feeler arm slid back and forth to control the positioning. I wish to do the same but with longer travel. So, my thinking is to disconnect the servo's pot and replace it with a wire wound one. Commercial units are far, far too expensive for my use. So, questions are this:
1. Can make my own wire wound resistor?
2. What materials (wire and core) to use to keep the resistor less than 1/4" d.
3. Would I need to make any other alterations electronically?
