Hi Guyz,
Ive just found your excellent forum, i wonder if anyone can assist, I have a life fitness treadmill at home, it has the Engage LCD screen fitted to it, the part number for that screen is 15DT-INTXP-01.

It started to play up about 1 year ago, I called Life fitness they sent a technician, Who said it may be broken !! This cost me £150 for the diagnosis o_O.

Anyway he took the back panel off blew the pcb board over with an air duster, and it came back on, I have left it powered on since then, but my wife switched it off the otehr day whilst cleaning and its playing up again. it starts to boot I hear 3 beeps, which I believe is the treadmill saying running its diagnostic. Then the screen comes on flashes a dark grey square, where the screen usually shows, the life fitness logo when booting, then the screen goes pure white, the treadmill will run etc, but nothing on the screen.

I have just gone to take a video showing this, switched it on, and low and behold its booted up ok :D, I know something is failing, any ideas guyz please

Hi,
have you fixed your treadmill? Do you have still the white screen after powering up? Usually in those treadmills a white screen means that there is no connection between the single board computer and the LCD so I would suggest you to check the cable going there and also the socket on the single board.
Best regards,
ch.

Hi Al,
you're welcome. This treadmill is a very good machine so it should work without any problems. Please keep in mind, that if you get a clean white screen but you can start the belt using keys, then it means it's only a cable / socket problem. Probably that's why the engineer repaired it with an air duster - he just moved a little this cable. If needed let me know and I will try to help you.
Best regards,
ch.

Hi chrystian
Your definitely onto something, because the treadmill, works fully, it will start increase speed and incline, but you cant see anything, initially when it boots, it flashes what looks like a black image, almost like screen burn, where the main part of the images are when its fully booted, then goes to a white screen.
I havent been brave enough to turn it off since, it came back on, but need to do something, with it

Al,
if the screen is constantly white - only cable. If the screen would be constantly black, I would say the LCD (back light) is damaged.
Be brave and turn the treadmill off! Then turn it back on after a couple of hours. If it will work and you will get the white screen after running then the cable is not properly connected or rusty and the single board is loosing the connection with the LCD.

ch.

Hi Ch.
Ive been brave turned it off and back on again, Ive uploaded the video of it booting here
https://streamable.com/1esvt

you will see when it boots the black lines, but if you watch u will see almost like screen burn, that flicks on and off in a black Sq, thats what comes on when it boots to a white screen.

Hi Al,
the treadmill boots up properly. Please remember, that the software is based on Windows CE so before the system starts the LCD controller shows different images / points / lines on the LCD - it's normal in this unit. Also that flickering is properly because of the LCD driver.
As I wrote you before - if the treadmill runs properly the belt, just you have a white screen then it's always a connector / cable / LCD issue. If there is anything wrong between the main CPU and any other chip, the console will simply not start at all.
If you want, you can make a small test - very carefully unplug the LCD connector (on the top of the single board). After turning on you will get a white screen but you will be able to start the belt using the keypad.
Regards,
ch.

Thanks very much for your input CH.
Thats great news I thought it was the LCD screen failing.
I will try and order a new connector cable and replace that for now, and see how i go on
Thank you again
Al

Al,
the cable you showed is the CBL-003 that connects the single board computer with all media connections (Iphone, audio, USB).
The cable I was talking about is the cable CBL-002 - you can find it on the top of the image.

Al, usually the problem is with the connector on board and not directly with the cable. I would suggest you to clean / check the connection on both sides (this cable is going to the LCD, but you have to take all the boards and the flange out to have an access to it).
In my opinion first try to check it and clean it. Don't order any parts now - you can order them always.

Best regards,
ch.
