LED power adapter trouble

Hello,
I have an LED strip that is missing its power adapter and a replacement that isn't working like I thought it would. The LEDs came mounted to a bed with a touch sensitive switch. The lights plugged into the switch and the switch plugged into the power adapter.

Of the attached pictures,
  • The Iantech plug is the original.
  • The Tranquil plug is the replacement.
  • The 3rd is the touch switch.
I've attached the replacement and the LEDs don't light up.
What is the difference between the two?

What power supply doesn’t have a ground? If it truly doesn’t, then it cannot provide power.
I believe he means it doesn't have a ground pin for the outlet.

I noticed that the original connector doesn't seem to have been a barrel but some kind of square four pin proprietary thing. If so, this would suggest the TS need to wire up the original connector to the replacement supply.

Ok, that makes sense! My first reaction was “Huh”?

Yes, i meant the 3rd pin on the plug.
This is what the end of the original plug would look like.
I cut off the end that would recieve the plug and wired the replacement directly.

Did you measure it? It is not possible to tell only from the jacket. It looks like it should be right, but only a meter will show you,

So I measured it and it turns out that the plug was dead. I found another of the same plug and it worked fine.
Thanks for the help.

Happy to help. A general rule is always check your assumptions starting at the source. Even experts need to be reminded of this from time to time.
