LED advice

I want to install a "door open" light for the shed some distance away. There is existing cabling and I found a spare pair of (cat5 type) wires so I've connected them to a magnetic switch on the door.
At the other end of the wire I'm getting 28.5 ohms resistance when the door opens (switch closes).
I have a 16v power supply that I can tap in to.
What type of led, resistor, etc do I need to complete the job?
Thanks

If this is just a door open indicator you can use a 1k 1/2W resistor and an LED with a forward current in the 10 to 20mA range, i.e. any small, low power LED.
