Hi
An LCD screen, which is not a touchscreen and does not have a driver circuit, does it still require ESD protection ? This was picked up in an audit and the auditor feels ESD protection , including packaging, is required.
However, reaching out to the supplier of the LCD screen , they have stated the following - The display pattern of the segmented display is solidified on the glass substrate through a film mold. It can only control the on/off segment and cannot dynamically change the content. The design itself does not rely on sensitive sensors but it needs to be driven by AC voltage through COM/SEG pin. If DC voltage is mistakenly applied mistakenly, it will cause permenant damage.
Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated
