Now here's technical gadget that really looks useful (and satisfying) for those who live in mosquito country.
Reminds me of that old Tabasco Super Bowl commercial with the exploding mosquito (see it on YouTube).
Seems kind of pricy for the average Joe, though.

Fun maybe, but I'd be concerned about the safety aspect. Wouldn't a scanning laser able to detect a 2mm target at 6m range have enough power to damage human eyesight, should someone inadvertently look towards the source?

Good question.
It has supposed safety features to turn off if it detects a large object, but has not yet been certified as safe by an independent agency.

Any "Safe" laser pointer has enough power to cause permanent blindness. And by safe I mean a class 1 laser less than 5mW. Taking into account most are well above that limit but are still listed as class 1. This one would have to be a class 4 so I would be amazed if it did get a safety certification. Hell we have to take into account reflections when getting certification for a machine so this just seems like a blindness generator if you ask me.
Who makes it, a seeing eye dog training facility?
