Hi everyone, I'm new here and rubbish at electronics so I need a little help, I have an r/c dalek which lights a blue LED on the end of its gun when it says exterminate, I successfully replaced the blue LED with a low powered laser (5mw), the laser is powered by its own battery's (two 1.5v AA), the power from the dalek now passes through a resistor (390ohm) and on to a transistor (bc 548) which in turn connects the laser to the battery's, but if I use a more powerfull laser (200mw) the dalek will not turn it on, I think because of the increased power that maybe the transistor needs to be changed but I'm not sure and I haven't a clue as to which transistor to use, the more powerfull laser operates off the same battery's as the weak one, can anyone help?

 

Need info on the laser. So far you only told us that it is 200 mW.

So, you have a toy onto which you wish to install an actual weapon that can produce real damage -- like to a curious child's retinas?

I will close this thread due to the safety issue.
A 5 mW laser can already do damage to the eyes.
A 200 mW laser will be like a weapon.
