Hi all.

I've unfortunately seem to of somehow bricked my laptop main board during a cpu and GPU thermal paste renew.

Fault: when the power button is pressed nothing happens? No post, no fan movement or HDD click.

I'm getting 19v to the board and 19v across the 3 smd capacitors on the left of left of the jack then it stops here.

There is no power going to the power button so in suspecting a mosfet failure possibly?

My question is just for basics to test such a board where would you start by identifying possible cause of the fault?

I'm electrical trained but not clued up motherboard/PCB intricate work especially when I've no schematic to hand!

Any help much appreciated no matter how small!

Note white surround on the picture is the area in getting 19v across. When dead I'm getting a circuit accross which seems odd on all 3 and if capacitors I'd expect nothing

 

Did you put the memory back in?

 

Yes with same sympton. I've removed to just test through
