Hello Everyone,
I'm taking Introduction to Electrical Engineer. I'm being going over this problem for weeks now. The schematic looks like this.

The digital output controls the LED on the breadboard. The problem I'm having is that it has to be connected to something other than the boolean. I've linked it to everything I can think of; but, I'm missing something. If anyone can give me some guidance, I would appreciate it.

Thank you for replying. The temperature is set to change the brightness of the LED by 2 degrees increments. If the temperature drops below 20 degrees, the LED should shut off. As the temperature rises, the LED should become brighter.

 

well... you may use an analog output or more conventionally digital output. since digital output can only be on or off, brightness change is achieved by varying duty cycle or how long current is on (puled operation). this is called PWM.
