I was going through Amazon the other day doing Christmas shopping, and i came across this little thing, kind of surprised me they would sell this to children but I can see how it's wired just looking at it remote vibrator connected to a single coil of wire exciting a much larger wire tube. Just looking at the image I could probably redesign it from scratch. What do y'all think? Just thought I would share. It's probably a piece of crap but hey will you go and get for 10 bucks?

I've bought them off of AliX for less than a couple USD back when they shipped cheap. They do work and are not bad soldering kits for kids. Many variations out there. The tiny spark they put out will light a fluorescent bulb close to it or burn paper so not a kit for little un's. They are finicky and may not work without a bit of work on them to get them started so not foolproof. Nice STEM stocking stuffer with a bit of proper parental supervision depending on age.

It's a bit late now but AliX has a bunch of very cheap small kits that would make great stocking stuffers. Such as...

First, and fundamentally, that kit does not produce a Tesla coil in any way, shape, or form.
Possibly by adding a suitable feedback winding and driver winding, it could maybe be made into an actual TESLA coil. but still the results will not be very impressive
What the description says is that it is a step-up transformer package that will boost an input signal to a much higher voltage.
The reason for the claim of no shock hazard is that the seller is aware that the package as sold will not work as claimed.
This is the level of honesty I expect from amazon.

Why do you state that the kit is not a Tesla coil. Tesla's circuit simply used a spark gap to drive a resonant circuit. There was no feedback winding.

An electronic Tesla Coil, such as the ad claims it to be, does not use a spark gap, but either tubes or transistors in an oscillator circuit. In addition, the device kit does not include the spark gap, nor the required resonating capacitor, nor any means to power a spark gap. An inspection of any of the supplied images will make that obvious. The package as sold lacks all of the components for any form of Tesla coil except the secondary coil.
Why defend a lying fraudulent merchandiser??

It's a slayer exciter and uses two TO-220 transistors such as TIP41 & IRF520 or similar and a pair of capacitors... A lot of them claim to play music and have an audio jack, they don't unless maybe you amplify the heck out of it. It's a TOY, not a piece of lab equipment!
