I have a 24v ride on that won’t run. Have changed control box and power button. When I press power button it lights up for a second then goes out. I checked voltage at the switch with two different sets of fully charged batteries and it shows 26.1 volts with switch off and drops to 1.8 bolts when switch is on. Turn switch off and voltage slowly climbs back to 26.1. Thoughts on what I might try to resolve. Thanks

Is it possible the drive wheels are somehow locked up? Can you turn them by hand?

A stalled motor might cause what you are seeing. Also a short would do that.

If the two batteries are in series and you have a multimeter that can measure the combined battery string voltage then the first step is to measure the battery voltage and switch on the control. If the battery voltage drops quite low then either it is a set of weak batteries or possibly a motor problem.
Another check will be to disconnect the control box and connect the motor directly to one battery and see if it runs. Then connect it to the other 12 volt battery and see if it runs with that as well. That will allow you to know if it is the motor, the controls box, or the batteries that are the problem. It might also, possibly, be a failed connection somewhere in the wiring.
