Clearly I misused a figure of speech. "Taking the Cake" is a polite way of saying " beat the pants off of everyone else." That expression implies beating the others by such a great margin that they are not qualified for any small share of the prize.
Sorry about that.
In the future I will try to avoid figures of speech that may confuse folks.
