I did not watch the video to see what recharges the lithium battery.
A nicad battery recharged by a solar cell could last quite a while, unless it is a cheap junk battery from one of those $3 solar lites.

If you really want to step down the voltage from such a battery will low current-loss then you can use a micropower LDO linear regulator such as the LP2051CN.

I have some Dollarama garden lights that I expected to last one year at most but still work after more than ten years except for the one that was at the preferred pee place of the dog.
OK, some of those may be better than most. You are fortunate indeed.
AND I am only referencing NiCad battery types.

My solar garden lights 2 years ago cost $1.00 each at Walmart and have an AAA Ni-MH battery cell that has a stainless steel case that does not rust away in one month like the old Ni-Cad cells did. But the new Ni-MH cell is a cheap one with a low capacity that fails in a few months.
The solar garden lights also have a solar panel with a glass cover that does not get sunburned like the old plastic ones did.
The LEDs still have iron leads that rust away in a few months.
I replace the battery cells and LEDs with good ones.

The lights that I was referencing lasted almost a month. They came from Menards. I did not buy them but I was asked to repair them. One had a broken connection, one just failed to operate.

And , in both cases, they a only get paid if people watch or read their works. So who is the stupid one?

thank u

It has 10k resistors biasing the transistor which will draw significant battery current.
The lifetime must be that of a fly.
Thank u

hi,
Corrected the image.

yes yes

My sentiments exactly.
The video shows the Li-Ion cell much overcharged at 4.5V.
No mention is made about charging it.
I wonder how far he carries the solder on the dirty tip of the soldering iron.
You guys are....BRUTAL. Poor video maker...sniff....sob.
Many videos on You Tube are from India or Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) where this same guy gets paid by You Tube for each useless video he posts there.
Lotsa people used to get paid to write useless books. Maybe we've come full circle. Making a video might be easier than writing a book.

Thank you

OK, the circuit is fairly real, BUT THE CLAIM IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE!!!!!
For starters, notice that the battery pack first has blue cells, but then they show installing a red coated cell. What you see is a resistive voltage dropping arrangement, nothing more. And the installation will fall apart in no time at all.
The big deal problem is that the battery will need to be recharged frequently, every few days. So the claimed benefit is a fake. yes, the battery does not need to be replaced, it just need to be recharged frequently. That could also be done by using a single NiCad AA cell battery, just putting it into the clock in place of the other battery. Much simpler and no better, it would stillneed recharging, but not as frequently.
YouTube stuff, as mentioned before, is never to be trusted.
But the person soldering was very good. Using that method and making adequate connections takes a lot of skill and practice..
