I have installed a relay on a golf cart to make the brake lights only work with the key in the run position. Now when you drive the cart and come to a stop the starter stays engaged. to trigger the relay I'm using the ground from the ignition switch to the #85 position on the relay. what seems to be happening is once you start driving the cart and stop, the starter motor is staying engaged unless, I shut the ignition switch off. Normally when you stop the starter does not re-engage until you step on the accelerator pedal again! this is an issue with all carts I have tried this on, that have an old starter solenoid on them and has to do with the ground to the relay.

It is actually quite hard to understand what you are saying but I am certain you simply have it wired incorrectly.

You'll need to draw a schematic, or at least a diagram, of what you've done. I am sure it can be sorted, there's just a mistake.
