Is that an inductor in the battery pack?

I have an electronics learning toy for my kids called "Snap Circuits Jr.", as shown in one of the image attachments. There is a tiny electronic component in the battery pack. I attached a close-up picture of the battery pack. That tiny component has 0 ohm resistance and is connected in series with the batteries. It looks like a small capacitor, but I think it can't be. Is that an inductor? Could someone tell me what that component is and what its purpose is?
Thanks,
Ji

hi Ji,
Welcome to AAC.
Is it that spring in this clip that you are querying.?
If yes, it looks like a battery contact compression spring, common in battery packs.
