Earth was a wonderful vibrant zoo of life during the cretaceous period. Heating bills didn't exist. That was "green" by any definition. CO2 levels were much greater than today. Go green.

To understand how bad we are at anticipating threats that will do us serious damage we only have to consider the amount of money people have put away for retirement. Most people are in the "gots'ta work till I drop" category. Very few of us are retiring with comfort and confidence. To quote Bobby McFerrin:

The real problem is this thing we created called money.
We bust our asses off to acquire and accumulate it. Then when we have more than what we need, we want more, driven by greed.
Then we exalt it to be the most important thing in our lives, more than our neighbor and the land that we need to survive.
Go figure.

That's exactly why I give my excess cash to Las Vegas in exchange for drinks, food and nice hotel suites.

I hadn't considered that event having a meaningful order of probability. You're not afraid of things that should worry you and you're terrified of things that shouldn't -- I rest my case.

Yeah. Go figure.

I guess it'd better for us to acquire the things we need via brute force -- the alternative to money.

HEY! joeyd I guess it was OK to say "NUTS" in the jokes thread. I mean if a Moderator can say asses why can't you say nuts.

Creepy Uncle Joe (Joe Biden) gets bashed by the climate change idiots on his own side.
The Hill said:
2020 Democratic hopefuls and environmental groups are blasting former Vice President Joe Biden’s forthcoming climate plan, which is reportedly being pegged as a “middle ground” approach to addressing global warming.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), both presidential candidates, on Friday criticized Biden's plan, which would reportedly include continued use of natural gas and rely on nuclear energy.

“There is no ‘middle ground’ when it comes to climate policy. If we don't commit to fully transforming our energy system away from fossil fuels, we will doom future generations,” Sanders tweeted. “Fighting climate change must be our priority, whether fossil fuel billionaires like it or not.”

Inslee called the plan a “half measure” that “won’t cut it.”

“We need a large-scale national mobilization to defeat climate change and grow millions of jobs in a clean energy economy,” Inslee also tweeted.
The likes of AOC who want to take airplanes away for the normal, average everyday people and only allow the rich or political to use them.
To limit our families to one car per family. Want to get away from fossil fuels and go all electric. To take away our gas grills by making it impossible to afford propane and tax you in the trillions for the honor of them doing it to you.
And yet for some reason everywhere you go (on 99% of forums) you can't say "Donald Trump" without getting backlash about how bad he is
GO FIGURE!

Good luck with that. In a world where most people live below the poverty line and make less than $30,000 a year all you would do is force them to be in more poverty. No-one is going to give away their money when it's needed for them to just get by.
Want a better world ? Place limits on our government on how much they can spend and on what. Start charging these countries for us protecting them instead of paying for the privilege. Take away all these regulations that stop small business for succeeding. Let's do a total overhaul of our representatives (get rid of them all) and place new non-lawyer, non-political people with level heads that vote in favor of you instead of trying to keep you down by taxing your ASS off. Wants to keep you safe and rebuild our own country instead of everybody else's.

You guess who I just described

We pay for our military to provide protection for places like South Korea, The UK without getting a dime for it. When you pay taxes and these taxes are used to do something "Then that includes me". Right now our tax dollars are being used to send our ships to cover the Persian Gulf to keep Iran in check......Those are "MY" tax dollars too! To talk like because it's not me personally is wrong in it's own right. Our Soldiers give their lives everyday to keep you and me safe.
Do you not watch the news?
So how was what I posted wrong? You want things to stay the way they are.
You say it's wrong without giving the reasons how it's wrong.
OH I forgot I mentioned Donald Trump forgive me.

I feel badly for you that the government spends $4 Trillion annually of YOUR tax dollars to defend other countries from some perceived threat. $4 Trillion can lift an extremely large number of people out of poverty.

No, I do not watch mainstream news.

Him and the FNC watchers all forget the reason it's done the way it is. To keep the threats away from mainland USA.

NOW your getting the picture MrChips! So I'm guessing you don't live in the USA. That's unfortunate it's the greatest country in the world to live in barring some stupid people who want to change it to resemble Canada or even worse China, Denmark, New Zealand or Finland.
Still no reasons how what I posted was wrong. Just the blanket statement I disagree with what you said.

I didn't say not to protect them! I said We should get paid to do it. Why offer a service for free when you could benefit our Country for doing it.
And you might should start watching FNC "You might learn something".
