I'm trying to design a IR proximity circuit using an IR LED and a photodiode. But I cannot seem to gwt it to light up a regular LED when I come into close proximity of it. Any ideas?
Post the schematic of your design that does not work. Also information about the components used, the distance between source and detector and if it works in transmisive or reflective mode.
Also what the purpose of the Detector is,
what frequency it needs to operate at,
Battery or AC Powered,
and if it is expected to drive anything more than a single LED,
and any other info regarding what you are trying to accomplish.

Is your IR receiver in a position where it can see the IR LED directly?
I had to wrap the outside of the IR receiver with a bit of Aluminium foil so that it would only pick up the reflected light, rather than the light coming from the LED next to it.
