Hello,

This is my first post on an electronics forum and not my specialty, excuse me if I make the usual expected mistakes of a newbe..

I have an idea of a sort of door bell... Just think door bell and then what I'm asking will become clear.
I would like to have the DB connect to my home router using WEP, once connected to the home network I would like to press the DB and it will send a packet of information to my mobile device. This is all planned to be done using IOT however the limitation is the power source for the DB, I would like it to run using 3 x AA Li Lithium chargeable batteries. All OK so far but I also don't want to be charging the DB every day, I would like it to be evry couple of months or more... Am I asking for the impossible or can this be done? Where would one go to have something like this designed and prototyped at a reasonable price?
Thanks for any thoughts in advance Paul

Hi dedad
Thanks for the response.
Had a quick google but this does look out of my price range having my own gateway. Issue would be cost because I would have to have the receiver part also built which starts to take costs to a point where it's not viable to manufacture.

Now looking at BLE long range, this could be the answer till Wi Fi LE comes to market
