Intelligence ≈ aggression ? Assuming it is.

I think the scarey part of that is an assumption of SETI assuming intellligent life is benevolent, as well as NASA putting that plaque putting our location on Voyager.

If we contact other lifeforms and they are benevolent, we are good, if not we are goners. Given the risk and potentials, seems like its best not to try to contact ET.

Never mind SETI, if ET is into radio astronomy, and is close enough in space/time, mankind has been putting on a progressively brighter display for "him" since the days of Marconi.

I find it rather amusing that they included a gramophone/phonograph record on Voyager. The chances of success might rather depend on whether ET's ancestors ever had one, or indeed whether they had hearing, or used anything like our method of communication using sound in the first place. Let's not be misled by the "aliens" on Star Trek all speaking English!

I don't see the disc making all that much difference either, as beings capable of interstellar travel should be able to work out where it came from.

We once had a cat that ripped the throat open on all my daughter's stuffed animals. After that, she started sleeping with the door shut.

Speaking of cats in the freezer...I had a little guy named Frank that died after biting an electical cord. It was the middle of winter, so I wrapped him up for burial and kept him in the freezer until the ground thawed. My students called him "frozen frank". I had him in there so long that I forgot what was in the box and opened his box thinking it was frozen meat. It was a bit of a shock.
