Not exactly "breaking news". The Edison and Galileo were discontinued in 2017. 3 years after the first Edison was launched.
Maybe the death of the (Intel) Edison could have been out in this current thread...

Intel doesn't have a very good track record whenever they venture from their core competencies. Maybe that will change someday...

Looks like Mobileye will be an exception.

 

I'd be very angry at Intel if I were a developer and had invested my time in one of such failures ....

many people (especially the DIY/hack communities) viewed the Edison as a knock-off intended as a single board computer to compete with raspberry pi but the real goal Intel mentioned at CES that year was to make a development pathway to compete with Qualcomm chips for smart phones.

 

I'd be very angry at Intel if I were a developer and had invested my time in one of such failures ....

Based on Intel's sales of Edison and Galileo, I think Intel will be ok pissing off 17 people.
