My Insteon application is back online.
Last week I received a notification that one of my sensors was triggered.
Checking the app on my phone shows it is again connected to Insteon servers.

The users can expect to see former 'free' services have a 'fee' in the future as I expect the new owners will want a return on investment.

This is sensible since they are not selling hardware that would support the provision of services for that hardware. A reasonable fee that made room for providing the cloud services, and improving them, is an advantage to the users.

It would seem better to pay a few dollars a month then to tools all the hardware you are currently using.

It will work for a while to keep existing users with a hardware investment but the reasons it shutdown are still there. What has changed with Insteon? The new company is vulnerable to the same failure mode.
