Hi guys. I need some help modifying an rgb controller I installed in my drumset..It is triggered with sound problem is it picks up surrounding sounds even at lowest sensitivity and lights up the rgb.I want to replace the electrit mic with something like a piezo disc so it is triggered with vibration, lights up the rgb tape each time a drumset is hit..Any suggestions?

Can you provide a schematic? Knowing whether it can be done or not - or if so - how - depends on the electronic package. At worst, a picture may prove of some use, but to just guess isn't our favorite way of modifying electronics.

 

As @ThePanMan says, more information is needed. We can almost certainly achieve your goal but it might not be the way you have imagined.

 

The piezo disc will provide volts instead of millivolts, and so some experimenting with attenuation will be needed. The piezo function is more efficient than the electret.
