I am working on SMPS (Buck Converter) and having problem with inductor. I am using a locally available inductor wounded on ferrite core. The problem is that whenever I turn on the load, my driver IC is burnt. I am using IR2104 driver IC to drive mosfets.
Remember problem is probably with inductor, not with the circuit. as when I use an inductor with lower amp rating(3-4 A), circuit works perfectly. but i need high amp rating (8-10 A).
Can anyone suggest me a solution? Which inductor should I use? I'd appreciate if anyone share his experience of working with SMPSs and MPPT Controllers.
