Inductor / choke question

Normally common mode chokes insert in both sides of the line. Two windings done at the same time so as to be close to identical. Consider that a common mode signal is in phase with itself on both conductors.
"Normal" mode signals are out of phase with each other on opposite conductors in the line connection. They are "normal" with the power signal, that is, opposite polarity on the opposite sides.
