I am having some difficulty in identifying the IC in the attached picture. The IC has following criteria as you can see

1. The IC has a total of 4 pins, with 2 pins positioned on each of the longer sides.
2. The One pin is wider than the other pins.
3. when did X-Rays it appears none of the pins serve as a ground connection.
4. The surface-mount device (SMD) marking on the IC is "50".
5. There is "88S" written at the bottom of it
   
   Any suggestions and help will be highly appreciated.

Possibly 5 V linear voltage regulator.

 

SOT-343-4 case is very uncommon, however most likely use is for high-current TVS diodes, 2 or 3 devices with common anode or cathode on the tab. Need more context though.

 

need to see rest of the circuit. package is known as SOT-343-4 or SC-82.
and while it is not common, it could be different things - diodes,schottky, TVS, RF amplifiers, LDOs, voltage detectors...
