I was cannibalizing a 12 year old modem board and got a couple of these components. I had assumed they were capacitors or possibly resistors but I don't understand the coding. There are 4 color dots which I am reading as possibly violet (or brown)-red-red-gold. I've attached 2 photos if anyone has
an idea.

More likely an inductor, but I can't read the code.

They are little chokes, take another picture showing all the coloured dots and I can read the value as you are not sure of the colours.

 

Thanks folks. It does look like a little choke. As far as I can tell the colors are gold red red brown which I guess I would read as 220 uH +/- 5%
