Not possible because each motor has to be controlled individually to control Pitch, Roll, Yaw, thrust and braking. If all motors operate from the same voltage one motor is going to be slightly stronger than the others and the drone will pitch over, flip and crash. But your points about heavy gauge wiring and the weight needed to lift a drone of significant size is something that can not be ignored. Since it's tethered, I'd assume (ASS-U-ME) altitude is going to be just a few feet above the ground.

But we still have heard nothing specific about the battery(ies). Nor have we heard anything about the charging plans.
Well, regarding the main power source, it will be a 220V AC that will be converted to 12V DC; then it will be stepped up to 36V DC. This stepped up Voltage will be transferred to the drone via a 100m cable. It will feed 6 MAD module 5010 motors that require almost 3000W. These are the specifications of the motor.

Regarding the batteries, I will be using Lithium batteries that provide 36V.

Consider the wire size required to carry 80 amps with less than a 10% voltage drop, assuming temperature is not an issue. That is still a heavy bit of wire. A step-down switcher in the drone could handle the power while the wires had a higher voltage and a lower current. The weight of 100M of cable suitable to carry 80 amps for any period of time, under any temperature conditions, should be calculated. That number should be compared to the lift available from the six motors spinning whatever props are selected for the application. Also, at maximum power the six motors would be consuming well over 6000 watts. So unless there are also batteries aboard, the motors will not be able to deliver maximum power.

I suggest doing the math before spending a lot of money. In addition, it might be that if the TS inherited the project, it might be because somebody else already did the math, understood what seems clear to me, and then made their exit.
