Again, I don't disagree that a change in compression would cause artifacts in addition to the spark placement, but how are you inferring that the compression is lower with the acrylic head?
My observation was regarding the resultant force exerted by the explosion. The compression ratio will remain the same if the volume at the cillynder cavity is unchanged.

But think also about this: air behaves pretty much like a spring when it's compressed. And an assimetric compression, such as the one present in the cillynder shown in the video, will leave zones within its volume with significant pressure differences. This will affect the uniformity at which combustion takes place.

I've been watching those sort of YouTube videos and others for the last few days now since I dropped out of the 'let's idiotically debate nothing of value forever' thread. (Seemed like a far more intelligent and educational use of my time. )
Wow! Things have changed since I last spent time in Off-Topic. I, too, have been spending a lot of time on You-Tube vids, but they can burn a lot of time as well.

Absolutely stunning. I love the way it shows clearly the shape of the ISS, not just a dot or a blur. Amazing.
If it were me, I'd apply a standard noise reduction technique that would likely produce a single relatively high quality image of the ISS.

Each of the 17 ISS images could be superimposed on each other and "averaged". This would produce a 4 to 1 improvement in visual "noise".

Nobody is stopping you, show off your skills.

My guess is that your process will add a 4:1 visible blurry aura around it.

Why? The proposed technique is well known and works. Not as well as in the cop shows on TV, but it works.
Yep. that what our brain does with our two eyes and why on a eye chart test we can see clearer with both eyes together rather than one at a time.

Another invention I conceived years ago. I couldn't figure out how to get the two dimensional movement. I was thinking ball bearings of a sort.

Our station in Keys handled the radio comm's for the training carrier of that era USS LEXINGTON, CVT-16 so we saw most of the flight reports on mishaps and minor accidents. That took the glamour and excitement of flying away from me. Being a fighter pilot is a dangerous business.
For most of those hot shot pilots in the air there was an air crew that risked their lives training them.

After I left the station.
You really do not want to post some of that stuff as it is age revealing material. :)

Labor Day Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio is air show weekend and this year it was The Blue Angels. They alternate Angels & Thunderbirds and of course being NAVAIR I have a slight prejudice. They have a #7 bird which takes up the media and they arrive a few days early for practice. This year one of the female reporters wrote about her 45 min ride, the 45 min which will last her a lifetime.

That guy is likable, that even when he says something stupid (neutrinos? ... nope, rather protons and alpha particles ... lol!) he manages to make it look cute ...
I think Destin is likely smarter than you and I combined. And he's got a good personality to go along with it. This is rare.

I'd like to see anyone here produce the volume of highly informative, interesting -- and entertaining -- videos as he does without saying something stupid every once in a while. In his case, the big picture counts!
