S0 i noticed the charger was slowly charging. Using a clamp meter on the wires give only between 3-5amps. So i decided to read all the components one by one.

I'm plugged in utility power which is at 215v AC so there was no fluctuation like when used on Generator.

First the transformer - On the 3 secondary outputs, 2 reads 7.9v and 12.2v. The third one is the neutral i guess (Connected to the 6/12v Selector switch)

The Diode - I removed the Charger leads connecting to the diode and read the Diode pins(Without + and - wires). It reads 11.2v for (12v) mode and 7.2v for (6v) mode

On the Charger leads - (With - and+ wires connected to diode and not connected to Battery) (12v mode reads 10.3v) and (6.5v on the 6v mode)

I would like to know if can check transformer if its really 20amp because it has no label and looked closely, there's no inscription anywhere on it. Could the diode be checked for efficiency? I wan to know because i got the charger from an old-stuff local shop and promised to return it if it doesnt work as expected.

You will only get 20A if it is needed.
Otherwise the battery will just charge at a lower current. Try on a large flat battery that is still ok. Not an old dead one.

The charger was probably designed to work on 230/240 volts so with 215 volts input the output voltage will be less than it would be with the correct voltage input. As the output voltage will be lower the charging current will be lower.
