Thursday - it will hit Fort Lauderdale
Friday - it will hit Miami
Saturday - it will hit Fort Meyers
Saturday night - it will hit Florida Keys and then Sarasota
Sunday - it will hit ...?
Don't quit your day job...

This morning the forecast says St Petersburg will be the post-Keys landfall (8am Monday). Then on to Tallahassee by 8pm Monday.

I'm still saying Mobile, Alabama is possible. Maybe the central part of the FL panhandle.

BTW, I decided years ago that if a major hurricane ever threatened our area, my family and I would take shelter in my office, which is a 35,000 sq. ft. concrete block building with a steel roof. The roof is surrounded by a 3 ft. parapet which keeps the wind out from under the roof.

This is where I've been for the past 2 days. Quite comfortable considering those who have to go to the public shelters.

A little bit of Rock & Roll to get everyone in the mood:

Careful, @WBahn will decide an off-topic conversation is straying off-topic and close this thread like he did elsewhere last night.

(Ungrateful members topic but talk of "forced gratefulness" and associated forced behaviors was considered too off-topic to survive). I'm not sure REO Speddwagon was singing about hurricane Irma as the title of this thread indicates.

Power out at 11 am. Don't expect it to come back on till after the storm.

Battery (UPS) power available for about 1 hr for land line internet, then it's mobile broadband until until my multiple devices and 32000 mAH power packs are exhausted.

Can recharge via car battery -- full tank of gas.

A.C. down and windows closed. Already getting warm and humid.

Tons of ice, though, to keep us cool.

Now the fun starts.

Still good here. Sleeping in 90 minute chunks.:(
I wish I could get some good sleep.
Maybe something is worrying me?

Just went outside to walk the dog. If it's this nasty here, I can't imagine what it's going to be like for the West coast.

I heard on the grape vine that huge trees have already fallen on rooves in my neighborhood.

I'm worried about the two black olives that tower over mine.

Good luck, @#12. I really mean it.

This is turning out to be quite a bit more severe than I expected based on distance from the eye.

Forget what I said re 24 hours before power is restored. This one is gonna take days or weeks.

Oh, and broadband mobile internet is crap in a storm. I guess everyone's trying to stream live news or Facebook.

Hey, you youngsters ever hear of an AM radio, dammit?
