I wish they could narrow it down to less than the entire state of Florida. Oh well, shopping time.
Oh, and the State of Florida has also activated Operation Guaranteed Commodity Shortage by fixing all prices to that of the average of the last 30 days. I hate socialism.
The way I figure it with things like this is pretty simple. Go to store and stock up especially on non perishable food products. While here in Cleveland, Ohio it's not like Florida we always keep a stocked pantry with canned goods. Next if I lived in Florida or anywhere subject to hurricanes I would have a generator and generator backup with a stash of fuel for both. Up here we do get severe summer storms and during the winters blizzards so a good well stocked pantry and generators are a very nice to have.Cone of death:

That's the theory. But when you have no land falling hurricanes in ten years some get lax over time, and the gas gets old.Next if I lived in Florida or anywhere subject to hurricanes I would have a generator and generator backup with a stash of fuel for both.
Yeah, that it does. Before we went with a natural gas unit I always kept 10 gallons of gasoline and would rotate it in my or my wife's truck. I still keep about 5 gallons as a back up to the natural gas unit I have an old 4 KW gasoline unit. Still a PITA but I hate cold and dark. Just hang tight and we will see how this one plays out. I still have visions of Humphrey Bogart in Key Largo. That's the theory. But when you have no land falling hurricanes in ten years some get lax over time, and the gas gets old.
After the Hurricane, it is 100% humidity, wet, hot and craps down everywhere... Nothing open, roads impassible and will probably be at least a week until utilites restored and any business back open. Oh and looters and ice and gas gouging at its finest.I hate cold and dark
Thanks for the reminder. Gotta check the guns out.Oh and looters...
A clean gun is a happy gun. Along with food water and electric it's nice to have a feeling of security and let's face it. Following a hurricane dialing 911 is not a viable option. Thanks for the reminder. Gotta check the guns out.
Yes, it helps to have real guns with ammo.Amazingly the phones usually work but the roads are blocked so... And what do you call a pistol without ammo? A Rock. Stock up..
I think I have a bullet around here somewhere.Yes, it helps to have real guns with ammo.

That's really a problematic situation when they try to evacuate a large population mass in a short time. Been there and saw that. Then every source of fuel is totally jammed up along the way. Then if you do pack out you are wondering what is going on with the property you left behind. I really believe if looters were just shot on sight the looting problem would diminish real quick.I've sat a few out and bugged out a few times. Pretty bad either way. Sleeping on a gymn floor with 200 others still better than sleeping in the car w/ 4 whiney kids and they fed us until the comeback call issued (usually 2-3 days after to clear the roads and start on utilities). I-10 and I-16 both get jammed bumper to bumper with start and stop traffic. Maybe 5MPH... J'ville heads West on 10 and Savanah/Hilton Head on 16 and all the backroads jammed. They started blocking off E bound 16 after Hugo but last time it was blocked off but there were no crossovers for double traffic? I saw maybe 6 cars going W on the E side but there was no rush and traffic was moving quickly that time.

Hurricane Dorian’s forecast path shifted away from most of South Florida in the 11 a.m. Saturday update from the National Hurricane Center, which shows a growing chance the storm will strike the Carolinas or remain at sea.
I had replenished my ammo stores. Now I'm going have to burn some at the practice range. Now all you have to do is drink all that liquid refreshment you stocked up on before it goes bad!
