My front porch thermometer earlier this morning:

IMG_0953.jpg

I don't quite know whether to believe it or not. A couple miles away where the 'official' thermometer is showed -27°F. It's common for us to vary a few degrees from that location. Either way, that was the lowest I've ever seen in 27 years in this house.

I have a cool little temperature logger in our 3-season room that I can access any time with my phone. It dropped to -18°F last night and it's looking ominous for tonight. It started dropping like a rock even before the sun went down.

I like it when the thermometer hits -40° ... that way I don't have to do unit conversions in my head! :p

Brrrrrr kills 'Hamilton' again: Chicago shows canceled Wednesday due to cold

Yup, we saw -29°F for an the official record low and my porch was right in line showing -30°F, a little warmer than the morning before.
It's a balmy -8°F now and snowing again. I broke my snow shovel.

First, so where is this or is it just a star wars pic?

Second, last night we had thunder with rain, but I'm not sure if the thunder produced was sort of snow thunder, is there such a thing. It sounded as if bombs going off, it shook the house for at least a minute, I asked what the hell was that, my wife said it's supposed to rain tonight it's thunder.

Lots of Canadian geese heading south today. Looks like snow starting again Friday for about a week non-stop if the models are right.

I've got an inch of ice covering my sidewalks and driveway. Used up the last of my salt so the wife could get up the hill.

Mainly snow here last night but the roads are a slick mess near Portland. Took the teen out in the car (with snow tires) to do donuts in the empty store parking lot so she could feel what losing control in a car is like. Great fun!

I live a little east of this store. Looks like the new arrivals from down south are stocking up for the "snowpocalypse". :)

To be fair there almost no snow equipment in the city to handle 4 inches and we expect up to a foot later.
