Some years back, we happened stay over in Miami Fla on the way to a bare foot cruise in Bahamas, It happened to be the coldest overnight temp of April on record, I remember the odd stares we got next day walking up the main drag wearing shorts and T shirts, everyone was dressed in top coats and woolen sweaters..
And when my brother-in-law and I were in the pool for a pre breakfast dip.People were taking photos from their hotel balcony!
I was very sorry to hear later of the demise of the Fantome, in Hurricane Mitch.

It's all about acclimatization. When I lived in Indianapolis, the jacket line was 55F and we swam in the public pool with the ground water temperature at 59F, slightly warmed by the sun.
After a decade in Florida, 70F feels a little chilly and the ocean gets to 89F. If it wasn't salt water, you could bring a bar of soap.
Of course, you can't swim in fresh water here. That's where the alligators live.

 

It was great but Fall is finally here.

I almost froze to death in Idaho. But the coldest I've every been was in Florida.

 

What's the name of the river?

It's the Rock River, which originates in Wisconsin and flows through Illinois into the Mississippi. There are two spots I put in, one near home (near Rockford, IL) and the other is a fat spot called Lake Koshkonong near Janesville, WI.

My GF and I had a great day at sea. The water was dead calm, and there were no wind. We motored for about 6 hours. She even caught six or seven mackerels.

 

53˚F today and 32˚F low expected Friday. It's going to make working outside fun, I was going to try and beat the cold and poor some cement but not now.

My wife has a friend that works with Concrete and says there is some kind of composite people are using rather than cement all you do is Tamp it down hardens up and you can shovel it. Less expensive too.

Right now it is an unseasonable 70 F. here in the lovely Cleveland, Ohio suburbs. We had rain last night but today it all moved out. The weather fortunately has been really great which works for me as we are having a new garage built. The footers were poured last week and the concrete setup great. Today we added the truss work and the roof less felt paper and shingles. The unseasonable weather has actually been a blessing.



Twenty Four feet wide by thirty two feet deep with a ten foot ceiling. The final concrete pads will come last. Sort of dwarfs the shed behind it.

No. My back yard tree is getting close to the power lines and an antenna. That camphor tree is about 45 feet wide, 45 feet tall, and probably most of the reason the hurricane didn't get at my roof. It's an open structure tree with very elastic branches so it absorbs a lot of wind energy without snapping off limbs. I am so glad I planted it!

What, "everything else"? The hour I spent picking up wind blown litter? I already sent you the schematic I used to re-wire my air conditioner, the back door needs a coat of paint, I need to cut up a window air conditioner for scrap metal...Is that the kind of everything else you are asking about? That's just winter chores, in the way I see the world. What, "everything else" is necessary after suffering no wind or water damage at all?
