26C, and it's quite comfy down here... it rained a little in the morning, then it was cloudy with a few drizzles the rest of the day

 

I just saw something on TV about the great Chicago heat wave of 1995. IIRC 278 people died in three days. The talking heads said people start dying when the heat index is above 99F and the night temperatures don't get below 70F.
Night temperatures above 70F is the very definition of summer in Florida, and it should be clear to everyone on AAC that the heat index gets above 105 on a daily basis.

I think acclimatization is very important.
I learned by myself that if the heat index is above human body temperature, you can not cool down by perspiration alone. Cold drinks help, dipping your forearms in an ice chest, but you're going to need an A/C or a body of water after 20 minutes in a 125 degree attic. Some jobs just don't get done until winter and some people from Chicago would simply drop dead if they went to Disney World in July.

So, be safe. If you realize your brain is starting to malfunction, it's already on the edge of an emergency. Do not hitch up your manliness and tough it out. That will be the last thing you do before you wake up...or not.

Without a doubt. I had a colleague in Singapore and his typical dew point (it's 77°F right now) is higher than it ever gets in the Chicago area.

When I woke up today, I was hiding under two blankets, and irritated that they had gotten loose. One was high, one was low, and I was cold in the middle. The temperature in the bedroom was 80F.

That said, the mere notion of bedchamber temps in excess of 65°F inspires me with what might best be described as (psychosomatic) Malignant Hyperthermia!

We are finally getting our monsoons. About 1/2 inch of rain each evening for the last 2 days. Temps now less than 100F, but dew point up in the 60s. Not much roll on the golf course now.

... I meant out of Monterrey... and into a more comfortable place... like my brother's cabin up in the mountains... I don't need to get out of Mexico to have good time, dude!... besides, there's always Cancún, Isla Mujeres, Vallarta, Los Cabos ... etc... it's just that I'm stuck in this hell-hole for the foreseeable future ...

 

It's hot and dry where I was headed for vacation next week. My plans to road trip at Yosemite and in Mariposa County are going up in smoke. Looks like I'll have to extend my stay in Vegas instead.

Over last 2 weeks, over 30 000 people had to evacuate in interior BC. Weather conditions had been very bad for battling the fires there... Where I am is cool and wet and we are all feeling guilty.

There are lots of farms there so many were trying to protect their animals, horses, cows, chickens...
