It seems more people are building homes in Kansas.

 

More people are building houses everywhere. Within a radius of probably just 10 miles there have been thousands of new apartments constructed. Hundreds of complexes. There's an old strip mall they're tearing down to put in apartments or condominiums. Behind the police station the area used to be reserved for a neighborhood garden. Now - yup! Apartments. The tract by the railroad where nobody wanted to live - Apts. On the main street establishments have been bought out to put in apts. The infrastructure is going to struggle to support all the additional population. Water, electrical, sewage, TRAFFIC! This was once a cute little neighborhood but even in the rural areas they're putting in new housing tracts and apartments or condo's. Where once a natural disaster would have affected hundreds it will now affect thousands. It may be time to install a whole house generator. The power grid is going to struggle for sure. Already in my neighborhood alone - just my block - the transformer on the pole in my yard struggles to keep up. Fortunately they can't put more housing on my block - it's all houses.

How's the weather? Well, the forecast is calling for much more darkness (power failures) and much dryer conditions (water usage). I'm trying to get City Hall to bill me only for the water I use. Right now I pay for 10,000 gallons a month whether I use it or not. AND they want to restrict my usage. If they restrict me to 6K gallons then they can't charge me for 10k. More people - more soil. More soil - more flies. More flies - more disease. There's just too many of us living in a desert where we're watching the Great Salt Lake shrink. Lake Powell looks like dead men's bones. Lake Mead is nearing the point where it can't produce sufficient electricity. I'd say the weather isn't the only thing we need to be concerned about.

As farmers die their kids are selling off the land to housing contractors. They're making HUGE profits and moving out of state. Soon there'll be too many houses and not enough farm land. We'll have to depend on food from overseas. GEEZ! I gotta stop this rant.
