How's the weather?

Didn't stop me today. The Steelers were playing in the rain so I figured I could grill out. The meal was great but the end of the game left a bitter taste. :) It was an exciting game though. Best one of the season I think despite the lose.
Could have been worse, you could have been in Cleveland. Now with only two road games to lose it will make for a perfect 0 - 16 season which is hard to do. :(

More than 4 feet of snow over Christmas in Erie, PA

https://www.ebay.com/itm/141818103347

This is just a 2 hour drive north of here. About an hour for @GopherT . This is an incredible amount of snow in 2 days. I doubt my snow blower would be able to get through that. Glad it did not come our way.

Erie and Cleveland get a lot of snow do to the lake effect. Route 80 runs across the top 1/4 of the state and that is also pretty much where the snow line is located. Anything nor ht of there and they get slammed but it is usually no this bad.

Here in the SE Cleveland burbs it wasn't that bad. My wife and I drove back home from Columbus yesterday and last night maybe a few inches. Gopher may be doing some digging. On the bright side it was not a heavy and wet snow. :) Glad I am retired and not making the 30 mile or so commute up to the lake (Euclid, Ohio) on I-271 anymore.

Love that term "Lake Effect" which I first heard of when I got to Cleveland. Snow is snow. :) The weird thing is we can get 24" and ten miles away they may see a powdering or trace amount.

Bright side??

We only got a little over an inch but it was really heavy. Gunk up my snow blower pretty good. I really didn't need to use it but I figure I paid for the blasted thing, I should make use of it. ;)

Well that is why they call it lake effect. The storm picks up extra moisture coming across the lake. Erie gets killed while Toronto and Hamilton don't get near as much snow.[/QUOTE]

I know how it works I just get a kick out of the term. All we got was maybe a few inches but what we got was very light powder. During the past few days it has been mid teens. This morning it was cold, about 8 degrees F. Somehow I don't do cold as well as I once did. :)

Just got back from the pick and pull, need to replace my 92 Ford F250 drivers door handle. Lucky they had one, 50˚F today. It did snow again for Christmas day, good to see it on the ground again, I wasn't sure we would.

Looking forward to New years Eve with friends,

kv:)

Edit: @Reloadron me either don't like it, when it clears up here can get pretty cold sometimes, On 1 February 1985, a temperature of −69.3 °F (−56.3 °C) was recorded.

Wayne, you'll probably have another 6 weeks of it. I lived a lot of winters there,,, in my former life... I love my Puget Sound here, but 0°F has some benefits over 0°C. (I don't know if it's ever been 0°F here).

Of course weather itself is always enjoyable and fascinating, it's people that don't/won't prepare for and handle it properly that make for misery. They're actually pretty funny sometimes, when observed from a safe distance.

Yes and no. It'll still be cold-ish 6 weeks from now but 0°F is well below average and to have a week straight of it - a month before our usual coldest period - is very rare. I fully expect a thaw or two between now and then. Six straight weeks of 0°F would be an ice age, even here. Our house guests were from Texas, by the way. They got an eyeful of the Midwest Christmas experience.

Wayne, I was there for 2 weeks straight of below 0 lows, and the entire month of Jan below freezing (mid 70s?), but my thoughts were kinda like yours, of sub-zero dips with some afternoon thaws. I loved the single digits and sub-zero weather, you've gotta prepare and dress for it, that's all.
