My internet connection has been running slow for 24 hours. Do you suppose the weather took out several communication nodes?

What is the Rescue Squad? Is that a volunteer thing?
Yes..It's made up of people from several skill sets . We have 2 paramedics, 5 EMT's, 3 deputies, 2 Constables, some farmers, a realtor, and a little bit of everything else. We have a charter for 35 members, and are members of TARS, TN association of Rescue Squads..http://tnars.org/ . We can be paged statewide, but usually stay within our region (3). I've been a member for 20 years.
Wouldn't trade those experiences for anything..

In 24 hours the temperature at my house will be 33 F.
You northern people, keep your snow to yourselves and don't send your extra cold air down here!

Cold? 33° is balmy! Time to get the boat out! (OK, kidding about that.)

It's almost noon and not yet above 0°F here. Was -17°F when I went out for the paper this morning.

According to the weather forecast it's going to be a blizzard with 23 meters per second (82 kph / 51 mph) on Sunday. Which most likely will include strings of wind up to 50 mps. I predict at least 1 trampoline getting airborne. ;)

From Central Utah it's 61˚F today and Five day forecast is showing wet / snow Sat but Friday will drop from enjoyable 61˚F to 49˚F and the cold will carry through next week.

Time to jump on the Motorcycle this afternoon.

Speaking of weather .... there are some putting forth the hypothesis that polar shift could be the cause. Of course, the flag was raised by Intuits in the northern latitudes who noticed the position of the sun being higher in the sky.

But that would be mere coincidence to the true believers.

We could also make the case that there are too many people in the U.S. and China, it's throwing the balance off ...

It's 50 F and feels like 51 F in the Arlington Texas area at 1319 Central Standard Time.

It was 30 at 0830 this morning.

Yes, Florida summers suck if you're from Oregon. Oregon winters suck if you're from Florida. The heat doesn't bother me near as much as cold or snow bothers me. All I have to do is think of cold, wet, shoes for 3 months and I am grateful for where I am.

Last July, I worked outside for 50 hours in one week, over, under, around, and through a couple of service trucks. In the end, it's the drenching sweats that bother me. In the summer, I can break a sweat from the front door to the mailbox, about 40 yards! Still, I'd rather be here than any other place, except maybe Orange County, California, 40 years ago, and I hear it's a lot worse than it was 40 years ago. If one of my limitations is to stay in the U.S., then I am as close to paradise as we have.
7F and 98F both suck for me, and I get them both here (more of the 98 than the 7, however.)

Just got back from a drive on the river to do some ice fishing, I use the boat launch ramp in the winter then park out on the Ice.
Cars warm, got the radio and a beer!
Fresh Walleye for supper.

We need a big, really big, pipeline from Canada to Mexico.

For air, not oil. It should have a duct to Tennessee, and I would control the direction of the main flow...N to S, or vice-versa.

I love walleye, but not as much as I dislike bitter cold. The closest I can get to walleye here is sauger.
