hi im not a circuit builder (i have built a flashing light on a half inch square PCB but used it then upgraded it to) but i have a sound to light system set up (its a tandy's sound to something) and i plugged it into a LED so the sound light up the LEDs makes then FLASH as you talk... but im trying to work out HOW to make a set of YELLOW leds stay ON but when the SOUND is activated they go OFF and (a second set of RED led's) the red LEDs come one (via the sound) switching OFF the yellow in a same circuit set up if possible ? i take it i'd need transistors or something (the only thing i have come up with at the moment is a yellow led under CLEAR red led & a battery lights up the yellow & the sound unit is wired to the RED clear (yellow shows though the "R" LED) when the sound activates im hoping the RED will be bright enough to extinguish the yellow being that the RED is actually light up and the yellow is only a small LED under it (its for a model i have built) but im hoping to get the yellow lights on perminatly until the red / sound is active then the yellow goes off as the red comes on altinating any ideas ? or circuits diagrames (simplified if possible as its been a very long time since i did this at school "im 58 now) many thanks

Welcome to AAC.

What you want to do it trivial for someone who understands the use of transistors in circuits. It sounds like all you need is a pair of MOSFETs and an inverter. But since I am not in a position to draw a schematic or test anything, I will leave it to our resident circuit/simulation cabal to work up more circuits than you can use on the way to some consensus.

Maybe @crutschow will see the post and take an interest, or possibly @Tonyr1084—or one of the other inveterate tinkerers. In any case, it isn't a hard problem so you can anticipate a simple solution.
