Can you help to figure out how I should orient the JFET in this layout? Which direction will be the drain and the source?

So in these diagrams the flat side of the transistor faces the inward pointing arrow, right? (Thanks anyway!)

On that image clip from the data sheet the lower part is the pin view.

Most JFETs are symmetrical. Hence, you can interchange the source and drain.

hi son,
Be aware that most MOSFET's have an inbuilt reverse voltage protection diode.
So if you reverse that type, it could damage your circuitry.
