I want to create the VoIP URI myself itself by making my laptop to listen for incoming VoIP calls from the internet. possible?

I know it’s Extremely Hard. Let’s see at least how hard it is!

P.S:
Once I do it suppose, I will forward my existing mobile number to that URI. That’s my plan!

AFAIK, you cannot do it. Your Service Provider is the one to do the needful to interface your Mobile or Landline to the net.

I think I need an SBC (Session Border Controller). Am I right? Please suggest me a one which is compatible with Airtel in India. I just want to create only one channel.

My PBX (FreePBX) takes incoming calls from SIP trunks and POTS lines, and from there routes them to any VOIP phone (or app) anywhere I choose.

It's a round-about way of getting where you want to go, but it works quite well and is free (as in Freedom and beer).

Interconnecting 2 different Networks without a license is illegal. In this case, you are planning to interface a Internet voice link with a local Mobile network. Do you have permission?

What is the actual goal? You might be able to do what you want in a few clicks using Google Voice, unless you feel the need to manage the back end yourself.

Check Asterisk, which is a very popular, free, open source, full featured telephony platform. Asterisk can do anything you might want concerning SIP and its related protocols from everything to just parts.

Your problem will be that without a company providing the SBC functionality you will not be able to expose a URI that can be reached from the PSTN, since you have no connection there. Someone initiating a call using SIP and software that supports DNS SRV records could find you, if you have a domain with appropriate SRV records.

The bottom line is: unless you buy call termination services from a company like VoIP.ms (I have been using them for more than 10 years and they’ve only gotten better), or some other option—of which there are many—you will not be able to do what you seem to want.

Why do you want to do this odd thing?

I believe I can take and make calls from my already existing GSM simcard through the below device:
SIM900A GSM GPRS Module with RS232 Interface and SMA Antenna
by using Asterisk.

It actually easy.
First, you'll need to subscribe to a VOIP service from your phone service provider. They will configure a VOIP phone number, and supply a voip phone configured with the number. Once that is done, you can replace the VOIP phone with a software version of the phone installed on you laptop. Forwarding will work the same as with any other phone, provided the phone service supports forwarding the number.

The problem in Airtel is that we have to take at least 30 Channels to get a SIP Trunk. Not that much rich here :(

That’s just an overly complicated GSM phone using a lot more hardware than necessary.

Hi Ya'
Good Morning. I just want to take and make calls from my mobile number through Asterisk. Please tell me a way. Thanks.
p.s:
SIP trunk people are asking minimum of 2000 INR per month for providing SIP services in India. Please tell me an affordable way. Thanks :)

Again if it's just one phone, why not use a free Google Voice account? If you reeallly have to have the same phone number as the online number, you can port it to Google Voice for free (it's easy, I've done it). Or use a new free number. In either event, you have the option of answering via. Google Voice, or having the call forwarded to your cell phone. What feature are you after that you have to have your own VoIP back end?

Google voice is saying the below:
Google Voice isn't available
Sorry, Google Voice isn't supported in your country yet

What is it that you want? An extension of a VOIP link to your mobile?
Get 2 mobile phones from the same operator and ask for a Hot Line setup.
Interface 1 phone to VOIP and the other becomes the extension. These phones will be linked only to each other. You cannot make any other calls from / to these phones.

No, what he wants is to use his mobile subscription as call termination and origination—to make it an FXO for a PBX.
