I am not a musician......is the physical feedback, in your fingers and hands, while playing a drum... important?

If so......then transducer should have similar feel.

Then I would connect mic to a computer and using audio software....analyze the envelope and FFT of a REAL drum.

I would be looking for how hard it is to detect the difference between the index finger and pinky finger........and the number of fingers, with envelope or FFT audio detection. This would be great because it would only require one transducer and one input. It might be possible to detect fingers with a non pressure transducer too....such as the physical movement of skin.

If that proves too weak or too long to acquire needed information........then an area(for drum skin) grid system will be needed to compare blows and count fingers. I have no idea of sensors available. It might take two grids cross-hatched and a scan. Who knows.

I am assuming that when you switch from one finger to the other for that one note.......the total finger count will change from normal.

And being that I really have no idea.....I wish you luck and will retire.
