How to bypass balance pot on audio mixer

I think what you are calling the balance pot is what directs each input to the two outputs. That is the main function of the mixer. Taking them out does not make it do anything it cannot do with them.

What is it you are try to accomplish? Where should the signals go without the pot?

This is the balance pot. The gain pot is on a board below this but I understand if it’s not possible. I want to remove the balance pot on each channel for a cleaner signal. This is what the mixer looks like. It’s a copy of a UREI 1620 but not the same inside.IMG_8901.jpeg

Balance pots are usually wired with the ends of the track to the Left and Right signals, and the wiper to ground.
If so, you can simply remove it. It will work without it.
if the signal is not clean, it won't be any cleaner without the balance pot, unless your balance pots are worn out.

Generally wired like this:

Unfortunately, removing the pot produced no audio.

I will try the fixed resistors route since a pot is a variable resistor (duh I’m slow)

It’s a 10k pot. How would I wire in the two 5k (fixed) resistors. And do I jumper something? I guess I can just experiment. Thanks

Hello,

The two resistor method replacing the pot:
One resistor from one end to the centerpin of the pot, the other resistor from the centerpin to the other end of the pot.

Is it a mono or a stereo pot? (how many pins?)
