Wait, Dave, are you saying that, if I calculated correctly you are paying almost 9 dollars for diesel? our plus is 3.49-3.59USD diesel is 3.79/gallon which is about roughly .5GBP/liter
Yep, ~£1.30 for 1 litre of diesel.

Unbelievable isn't it.

I came across an set of UTube articles about air motors, which are 1/10 the size of conventional motor (maybe less) and run off compressed air. They were talking about using them for mini sub compacts in contries like India and possibly Oz, and had been developed/invented in two places in the world (India and OZ, where else?). The reason for the extreme weight difference is they are made out of aluminum, aroue about the size of a breadbox (put produce equivelent power to a 4 banger) and require no cooling system. A typical charge would yield around 150 miles range. Not too sure about the compressed gas cylinders though, seems a bit dicey in an accident.
