It can go up to 5 miles, Its an rc receiver. But how can I increase the range? increasing the watts or using a transistor? I've wanted to increase my range on my rc plane. And theres nobody that could help on the rc forums, So I came here.

perhaps need a bit more information here before answering your question.

Why do you need to increase the range ? (will you even be able to see your plane if it's more than 5 miles away?)

so you're thinking of using an amplifier ?

 

To increase the range of radio communication try any one or combination of the following:
1. Increase transmitter power output.
2. Increase receiver sensitivity.
3. Use higher gain transmitting and/or receiving antenna.
4. Improve transmitter matching to transmitting antenna to increase power transfer to antenna.
5. Use low noise preamplifier between receiving antenna and receiver.
