I prefer to insert my card in eftpos terminals. I hate it when one grabs my details. The ability to scan my card is a security risk I do not wish to take.

My card has a circular trace pattern around the contact pad. Can I stop the scan by interfering with it? Either by cutting or a bit of solder?

 

On one of my cards, I cut the antenna tracks with a hole punch. It worked well. But the new card has multiple tracks so it is harder.
Shine a bright light through the card to see if it just has tracks running around the edge. If so, just punch a short length of track out to open the RF pickup antenna. The chip and stripe still works (as long as you do no punch over them).

Thanks. My cards have several thin traces and several wide traces. One of the cards is only used for Internet shopping, so I will experiment with it first since it does not matter if I destroy the electronics in it.
