Anyone got a spare Z80 CPU they might be willing to donate to a poor experimenter with a non-existent budget? I'd be very grateful...

Cheerful regards, Mike, K8LH (Michigan, USA)

I've got one that came out of an old Digitech RP6. Not sure if it works, been sitting in a box for 5 years. Want it?

i can sell you a Z80180 (PLCC68) cheap- lets say, $3.
PLCC68 T/H socket 60 cents.
S/H 3 dollars.

$6.60

Anyway you need a couple of ICs for a Z80 computer + a board/PCB,
so it aint really gonna be cheap.

I spent 1000s for 68000 parts some years ago- only to figure out in the end to do a proper PCB, it would even cost me more,
and 100s of hours work.

I am sure there are still plenty from the Apple CPM cards in the US.
If you need any 8085, I can spare you some. They are extracted from OKI teletype machines.
Hope the postage is not too much to send it from Malaysia.

Yes they are in plastic DIP40, do you want some?
I also have 8355 and 8155. Some of the 8355 have quartz windows on them.

Hi Allen,

Thank you for the kind offer. That would be an interesting chip to experiment with but postage would be awful.

Cheerful regards, Mike

theres a lot of difference between the 1802 and the z80. such as 1802 is static, z80 is dynamic. the z80 is about the ezuivalent of 2 8080's in one package, with improvements like clocking internal instead of external chips, and many more registers. the upd780 is also a z80 with a different number. I have a few z80's left if you want one. tehy were very popular in the old quarter grabber vidoe games.
