or if you still prefer tubing, check https://www.thomassci.com/
there is a wide selection and shipping is cheap ($20-30).
for example heavy wall tubing is at
https://www.thomassci.com/Laboratory-Supplies/Tubing/_/Heavy-Wall-Borosilicate-Tubing?q=Borosilicate Tubes

maybe get different sizes and make double wall tubing :D
Thanks for the suggestion. That was quite an improvement. Although things are inverted now. Shipping is quite reasonable, but the price of the tube is six times that of the previous supplier.

Gonna keep looking around for a local supplier this week.

I went back to the previous supplier and this time used an address in McAllen, Tx instead of Monterrey Mexico and this time the shipping fee is far more realistic:

McAllen is at a 2-1/2 hour drive from where I live ... maybe I'll have the tubes shipped there and also do some shopping while visiting some friends that live there.

Finally had the courage to buy the tube, and had it shipped to Tx ... friends are coming to visit and are doing me the favor to bring it with them ... so it should be here in a couple of weeks. I've also made my mind on bulb size, power supply and high temp wire. More updates to come in the following days.
