Does not compute. Something like "the spectral components of a light source" would be maningful. Better check to see if you got the question right.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that "emission spectrography" is what we are talking about. Zap a piece of conductive material with HV and take a look at what specific colors & intensities of light are given off. This tells us what the material is made of. This technique is used a lot in metallurgy and is accurate to at least one part per 100,000.
